What to do at the Atlanta Botanical Garden if you only have an hour:
Outdoor Oasis
Zip through 15 acres of wonderful outdoor gardens during the height of spring and summer. See the Parterre Garden filled with color, the soothing Japanese Garden, the Rose Garden, ferns, wildflowers and hydrangeas in the lovely Woodland Shade Garden, plus perennial borders and vine arbors. Cross the Great Lawn to the Fuqua Conservatory and Orchid Center, and peek at the native carnivorous plant bogs behind the glasshouses.
Gardens Under Glass
Make a bee-line to the Fuqua Orchid Center to study the beauty and unique technology of the Tropical High Elevation House. The Gardens Under Glass houses high elevation orchids that grow around the world at elevations from 4,000-10,000 feet above sea level, despite the hot Atlanta climate. Fragrance, color and unusual flower forms are the order of the day.
Family Fun
Lickety-split over the Flower Bridge to the Children's Garden, two acres of interactive, fun exhibits, flowers and amphitheater programs, along with a vegetable garden, observation beehive and a tree house. (Be sure to give Green Man a big smile as you enter the Children's Garden!) And if it's a hot summer day be sure to bring the kids' swimsuits to take a splash in the Sunflower Fountain!
