Woodland Shade Garden

Approximately five acres of the Atlanta Botanical Garden are known as the Woodland Shade Garden. This area represents a transition from formal gardens to woods and is a delightful shady retreat 10 degrees cooler than the rest of the Atlanta Botanical Garden during the hot summer months.

Huge native trees provide shade for unusual shrubs and perennials year-round. Collections including Hydrangea, Clethra, Arisaema, Epimedium, Helleborus, Tricyrtis, along with groundcovers, wildflowers and bulbs, provide color all year long.
