The latest of our native azaleas to bloom, and with the ability to flower profusely in fairly dense shade, this shrub is a great choice for the shady garden. Unfortunately, the flowers are not fragrant like some of the other native azaleas. Deciduous in winter. Can reach sizes of 10' tall and wide over many years. Found natively on sandy, moist creek banks in southern Piedmont forests, but very adaptable to average garden conditions in the shade
