Outdoor Kitchen Resource Assistants

This is a new volunteer group forming in response to needs in the new Edible Garden Outdoor Kitchen. The primary responsibilities are keeping the kitchen in order, helping chefs locate supplies, distributing tastings and samples, collecting trash, kitchen cleanup, assisting with crowd control, and answering basic questions from visitors…all while observing local and celebrity chefs working with fresh ingredients found in the new Edible Garden. Opportunities are available every Saturday and Sunday during the peak months of May – October at noon and 1 p.m., the third Wednesday of the month for the Well-Seasoned Chef Series at 6:30 p.m., the first Tuesday of the month for the Seasonal Wine Pairing Series at 6:30 p.m., and a variety of education classes and special events. You must be able to commit to two shifts of roughly three hours each per month and attend an introductory training session, scheduled for Saturday, July 10, 8:30 – 10:30 a.m., to learn more about this volunteer position and become familiar with the layout of the Outdoor Kitchen.Plant Hotline Calling all Master Gardeners! Do you know everything there is to know about gardening and horticulture? Inquiring minds will test your knowledge with questions about plants, pests, growing conditions, and the ever present “Why can’t I keep this plant alive?” This small but faithful group of volunteers work out of the Sheffield Botanical Library answering over a thousand questions a year from walk-ups, calls and emails
