The Librarian is happy to provide reference assistance in person at the Garden, via telephone or email.

An important component of the Center for Conservation and Education is the Orchid Reference Library.

A collection of books specific to the study of orchids and to native and global plant conservation is available to staff and to researchers by apointment.

The Library of Congress Classification Schedule is used in the library. The card catalog provides entry to information by author, title and subject. Creation of a digital catalog database is currently in progress. The collections are noncirculating.

Orchid Reference Library

A collection of books specific to the study of orchids and to native and global plant conservation is available to staff and to researchers. Library information is used to identify orchids, verify nomenclature and access descriptions of native habitats for display purposes. The Orchid Reference Library also houses other books featuring extensive information about the many other plants in the Conservatory including blooming tropicals, palms, bromeliads, conifers, and carnivourous plants.
